Monday, February 28, 2005  yes, we lost to clemson and carolina, jeopardizing our tourney chances...but doesn't this make you feel a little better?

Tuesday, February 08, 2005 ok, so i got a weird reality check today. there was this client who was the head of an organization called the snowy egret alliance (ok, that wasn't the actual name, but i'm not allowed to broadcast the names of our clients) and i mentioned to him that i had an environmental science degree, and he goes, "what are you doing working for a bank?" i explained to him that i was tired of being someone's field monkey, and that there weren't any openings for professional environmental positions that didn't require graduate degrees, etc. and he goes, "what about noaa? or nimf?" i told him that i had looked into noaa and the epa, but i had found this job, and that i liked it. which was weird, because it's true. i mean, i'm not some crunchy tree hugger, but i never envisioned that i'd be wearing a suit every day. i kind of like having my shirts laundered and lightly starched. plus the job itself is pretty challenging, and the client interaction angle is something i've always liked. plus the money is decent, with a ton of room for growth. yeah, i think i'm a republican. ok, maybe not, but i do work for the 9th largest financial institution in the US, with over 100 billion in assets and a billion in annual income. i think i work for the man. posted by johnny | 2/08/2005 04:06:00 PM |
