Friday, April 30, 2004 in la this morning, truckers staged a protest over rising fuel prices by slowing rush hour traffic on the santa anita freeway for several hours. this is an awesome way to make a statement. imagine if four cars decided to drive between 50-55 on around the beltway, in effect blocking all the lanes. they're not even technically doing anything illegal, but during rush hour, this would be a disaster. good thing we've got cali to think up these things for us. (and now bino will complain that he thought up the idea first, last week at china buffet) we played poker last night, out in the yard with a spotlight. kind of silly. mike, ariel and i drove eric out early, but then let him buy back in, and he proceeded to take our money. i only lost five bucks, so i'm pretty sure that was worth the four hours of poker. i do officially hate "follow the queen" and "baseball" - two bastardized versions of seven card stud, except that nothing makes sense. next time we're playing "cups". asado manana, around 3ish i guess. cinco de mayo fiesta a week from today, around 10ish. anyone who'll be around is more than welcome to stop by, if only to prove that i have a couple friends that don't live with me. does anyone have a costco card? and feels like bringing me there? posted by johnny | 4/30/2004 11:59:00 AM Wednesday, April 28, 2004 "As an active Blogger user, we would like to invite you to be one of the first to try out Google's new email service, Gmail." i heard about this new email service. it allows you up to 1 gig of webspace, but searches the text in your emails so to deliver target ads on the side of the page. shady. but you know i'll try anything if it's on the internet. i also read an article about how they are trying to come up with the world cup of baseball, to be held during spring training. please don't respond with how you think baseball is boring - i don't actually care, and you are broken. this is an awesome idea - but will make me that much more nonfunctional during the month of march. jayson stark from espn explains the plan better than i can. posted by johnny | 4/28/2004 12:05:00 PM Tuesday, April 27, 2004 for real this time... so have you ever read an entry about how hard it is to come up with material for an entry? this is it. i don't have anything to write about anymore. school is boring, and work is boring. at work i did see old kelly boyd, a friend from way way back. anyone remember when my car caught fire? then you might remember kelly. i bought a $25 gift certificate to the english tea house for $3 - i have never been there. i think they have sandwiches. syd was puking yesterday, possibly due to eating too much shit (literally) at kim's, or more likely drinking nasty creek water in hyattsville. she's better today. no real progress has been made on any training front, though zoey taught her how to dig holes in the yard - superb. is everyone on friendster? i get these obssessive hour long mental breaks where i desperately look up people i know, then decide against creepily sending them an add request. then i ignore it for a week, and start all over again. what is the protocol on how to add friends you haven't spoken to for years to your friendster list? we are having a bbq this weekend, and a cinco de mayo party the next weekend. i will once again know no one who shows up, unless molly and justin and kim decide to make an appearence at the fiesta. i haven't seen michael in weeks. i'm beginning to think christina has him stashed in her closet and lets him out only to watch tivo with her. i did hear that he got hammered at the girl's formal the other night, with hilarious consequences. speaking of tivo, that's what my computer has become. i tape all episodes of aqua teen hunger force and watch them in the morning before class. i'm hoping to get my roommates as hooked on them as they are on alias now. huh...that was easy. maybe i should blog more often... posted by johnny | 4/27/2004 04:19:00 PM Tuesday, April 20, 2004 quick blog because it is hilarious. it there something called horrified laughter? watch talk sex... posted by johnny | 4/20/2004 03:08:00 PM Friday, April 16, 2004 after some serious complaining by my regulars, i have returned to blog. so it's been a month. i'm really not that interesting. one thing i did notice is that if you search for "gibbous moon" on yahoo, my little blog is the #2 ranked result. on msn, it is #3. on google, i am nowhere to be found. maybe sergey got bored of always checking back and finding out i hadn't updated since mid-march. regardless, being ranked ahead of actual information about a lunar phase is pretty silly. in a good way. so...the past month. syd has gotten bigger, work has gotten busier, and school has gotten boringer. (or more boring, for the gramatically correct crowd. all i wanted was a little continuity in suffixes) i'm not going to talk about the terp tourney challenge - let's just say next year we'll have a smaller, more intimate group for the pool. i am dead in the middle of room selection at work, which i love while i'm there, but am not going to miss after this year. sydney is perfect. she is basically housebroken, as long as i keep her to a flexible schedule. she has mastered the commands sit, stay, lie down, come, fetch, up, down and treat. she can catch a tennis ball in her mouth and we are currently working on catching a thrown frisbee in mid-air. i'm actually looking for a few easy yet fun tricks to teach her, e.g., roll over, or cover you eyes. suggestions are welcome. that's all for now. if i can remember anything funny that happened to me in the last month, i'll blog on it later. or you guys can hit me back with a holla back if you remember anything i did. but today is too nice of a day to spend inside staring at a monitor. posted by johnny | 4/16/2004 02:08:00 PM |
