(not so much buffoonery, but go with me on the alliteration - too bad there wasn't a brouhaha) syd got to play outside for hours, which i guess is good training for what will go down today when phoebe comes to visit. i made a horrible mistake in giving syd some additional water due to all the extramural excitement; she proceeded to pee every five minutes for about two hours. when i finally brought her inside, thinking she was all tapped out (silly johnny) she went four more times, in particularly massive quantities. next time she gets agua extra, it will be one serving, not the ten i gave her. most importantly, i messed up the system. we had a system, and i f'ed it up. but this does prove that she can't really control herself yet - which makes me feel better about the lack of progress in the housebreaking. i guess i should have warned anyone who didn't want to read about the urination schedule of my dog to skip the previous section, but eh. like i said before, syd is my life right now. it's pathetic to think that most days my mood is based on whether she craps in the house or not. i've decided to try crating her until she can learn how to hold it - i know it will speed up the process, hopefully reaching satisfactory completion within a couple more weeks. other than that, syd is doing pretty awesome. i just started not allowing her on my bed, which is going well, but definitely confusing the hell out of her. she is a superstar at fetch, both inside and out, which i think makes tobey's owner jealous, especially when i throw a stick from my yard into his - and syd retrieves effortlessly. plus she plays well with all other dogs, which leads me to... phoebe is making her triumphant return today! along with justin and molly. i guess they're spending the week in md, which i'm sure will lead to some good blogging material. let just hope sydney and phoebe don't try to have the same contest as zoey and phoebe did. classic balsley line from the latter matchup - "did you put it back on the floor?" ooh. i hope i'm not making some sort of statement with these short paragraphs, but my thoughts are coming in pretty choppily. my first week of work went the route normally described as "gangbusters". bino and tyke, my two favorite bosses, are still there, but the real treat is the new administrative assistant in the front office, lori. i know she reads this so i can't talk any shit about her - fortunately, there isn't any - she's awesome. i only met her on monday, and now we get along famously. her kids even played with syd outside on wednesday. plus she's a huge terps fan, and she hates the cowboys and yankees. can't get any better. also, due to some improvements in the system, my job is alot easier than it was three years ago. of course, now bino will read this and give me more work do - then i can talk some trash about him and start a reslife rumble. either that or room selection will start and free time will be a thing of the past. found out last week that liz was moving out, which sucks, but then was informed that she was leaving to work in st. thomas. yes, that st. thomas, the one in the u.s. virgin islands. that is silly. syd and i will miss her terribly, but hopefully we'll get some regular updates on what trouble she's getting into down there in paradise. one ancillary benefit is that i will finally be able to get out of this makeshift (albeit wicked awesome) room and into one with some windows and a bathroom on the same floor. i'm officially distracted, so i'm done for the day. check out the terrapin tourney challenge - the link is on the right. posted by johnny | 3/06/2004 09:37:00 AM |
