Sunday, November 30, 2003 the past couple weeks have been pretty good to me, from getting my ipod, to playing with my ipod, to showing off my ipod to my friends - easy, guys - i'm just messing with you. i promise i won't talk about my ipod anymore...maybe. i did have a good time being unemployed, however. did lots of fun/constructive things. job one was creating a livable space in my basement for myself in my new room. i had been "living" in a room full of my boxes, sleeping on a bed - seriously - in the actual middle of my room. my clothes were in garbage bags and everything else was scattered around the rest of the house. now my room pretty much looks like a room, complete with lamps, full bookshelf, closets, etc. job one - check. my weekends were replete with fun times, mostly with the kids from 4701 or with my peeps from er&m. i go out to the bars alot - shocking, i know. i'm actually having trouble trying to remember what i did on specific weekends - though this memory loss is probably more caused by lack of motivation to write than anything else. (besides, i'm trying to write this during alias - not recommended) i did shroom one night with kyle and nicole. everything else consisted of mostly sports and drinking. often sports and drinking. i.e., beer pong. before i talk about anything else, i just want to say i just got the most bizarre job ever. apparently i am going to be dog sitting for two, possibly three weeks. i will probably be staying at this house in reston, va and taking care of four dogs while their owner goes to korea. i am not kidding. i won't have to take care of them on the weekends, which is good. and i'm going to be making sixty bucks a day, plus get free food. they allegedly have a huge house and a 52 inch tv which i will have full use of. i start tomorrow...so i guess i'll let you know how it goes on friday... thanksgiving was cool. it was my mom's birthday, so i made the whole meal myself. once again, not kidding. i did it all - turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, asparagus, salad, pie. wasn't really that hard. plus it made the leftovers that much better. friday i went over to molly's house to have thanksgiving, part two. eric was there and jimmy came after dinner. yes, that jimmy. we paid eric ten bucks to sit inside a huge chest freezer for ten minutes - easily the worst ten dollars ever spent. afterwards we came back to 4701 for a good night of beer pong, 2001 style. saturday i hung out all day on the couch watching terp sports and then went out to cornerstone that night (remember? sports and drinking) so this entry is a little bit choppy. eh. maybe these dogs i'm going to be taking care of will inspire some good blogging material. posted by johnny | 11/30/2003 11:18:00 PM Monday, November 17, 2003 quick update... starting work this week, substituting at northwestern... set up a waste network with justin so up to 50 of our closest friends can share files (music, video, etc) via a crude napster/kazaa like interface - let me know if you want to know how to join... and my ipod is awesome. more disclosures on my two weeks of unemployment to come soon... p.s. - does anyone know where my dvd's are? posted by johnny | 11/17/2003 12:53:00 AM Tuesday, November 11, 2003 so i got my ipod, and all time and space has stopped. maybe all the time i spent waiting for it has increased my appreciation...or maybe, just maybe, IT IS THE BEST THING EVER. i just wanted to brag - later this week i'll take a break and blog for real. posted by johnny | 11/11/2003 08:24:00 PM Tuesday, November 04, 2003 wow...i just reread my blog from yesterday, and man was it awful. i'm usually far more witty, and you people should hold me to a higher standard. perhaps i felt overwhelmed by the volume of information to dispense. posted by johnny | 11/04/2003 08:44:00 AM Monday, November 03, 2003 apparently my blog is more popular than i previously imagined. this past weekend i got so much shit about "i can't believe that you finally updated your blog". maybe i have more friends than i thought. that or i've underestimated the drive and addiction of aim stalking. speaking of this past weekend...well, it was about a crazy as i thought it would be. friday on my way to work my car crapped out, which turned out to be a good thing, as the repair was not too too expensive, and the crew ended up working way late. anyways, i got the car towed to my shop, walked home, waited for two hours, walked back the shop, and exchanged a little over 100 bucks for a working car. i eventually made my way to 4701, where i hadn't been in a couple weeks. (update - my grammar is horrific, but i'm not into rewording sentences at this point on my first day off) got changed into my costume, drank for maybe 3 hours while waiting for my various friends to show, then hopped a ride to fells point in mike's super sonic jeep. (i don't mean supersonic - while the engine does seem big, i don't think it has mach capability. i mean super sonic, as in ridiculously loud. plastic windows don't seem as soundproof as they appear on tv.) costumes went as such: kyle was a playboy bunny, dara was tinkerbell, nicole was wonder woman, liz was champ bailey, eric was a football referee, noey and allison were school girls, molly was some sort of cat, justin was mickey mouse (props for best makeshift costume), christina was wearing butterfly wings, and mike was...wearing his work clothes and several assorted hats. i ended up finally getting my smoking jacket and went as hef (partnered with an extremely drunk, caustic and bitter bunny). we walked around aimlessly for about an hour before i finally got in touch with dan, josh and jess, and we met them at fletchers, where there was - silly - no cover. dan was some sort of redneck hick, josh was some sort of toga guy with good shades, and jess was a bat. best costume of the night goes to scuba steve, who grew a moustace and shaved the top of his head and dressed as dr. phil. i hope i didn't miss anyone. dan got hammered and sat outside on the fire escape for about an hour before we could find him. the work kids left, and i went back inside with my so-called friends, who started buying me shots. whoever bought me a prairie fire is dead to me. i got a little [ear muffs] fucked up, but i definitely didn't drink out of the hose. i also stole the eight ball from the pool table we were sitting on, which was then stolen from me less than 24 hours later - but i guess i'll get to that. we came back, went to plato's and finally crashed at 4701 around 4:00. stumble forward not quite 4 hours later, and steve (nicole's) is knocking on the front door next to the couch i am passed out on. time to start tailgating. honestly. i make it over to the comcast lot around 9:30, set up frankenstein, and start making mimosas. apparently we bought way too much beer - you would think that wasn't possible, but four 30 packs combined with 80 degree heat and the fact it was less than eight hours since any of us went to bed the night before made for some leftovers. the mimosas went over huge - i think liz drank a whole bottle of champagne by herself. we tried to play beer pong, but were shut down by the auxiliary police. not two minutes later, real cops came over and told us a different drinking game that the rent-a-cops wouldn't "hassle us about" - a direct quote. instead steve and i played game of flip cup and decided it was too hot to really do anything. plus balsley was being a douche about playing any sort of game. james bond showed up, which was awesome, as did duffy, which was even better. around 12-12:30 we made our way to the game. it was ass hot sitting in the stands so i finally gave up and went back to 4701 midway through the third quarter, after the terps had the game well in hand. note: this was barely twelve hours after i went to bed the previous night. went with the girls to go get kegs, changed back into half my costume, and started to drink. eric got blitzed early playing beer pong with the beave and passed out like a tiny little girl in his bed. (the next day he made it sound accidental, but he also locked his door - suspicious) people started showing up, and who walks through the door? micah and ariel. they only stayed for 30-45 min, when the party was just getting going, but long enough to find out what color panties dara was wearing. and i mean that in the most innocent way possible. they asked her. but i digress. kinda went a little bit, just...got crazy [that] night. random kids started showing up, started trying to steal stuff, and we had to start regulating. one kid tried to take the six foot tall corona bottle - real smooth. another kid came downstairs munching on one of the girls' cinnamon toast crunch - genius. we did lose some stuff - like some bottles of liquor and the aforementioned eight ball - but the girls made out cash flow wise. sunday morning beanie and i were sitting on the couch watching his commercial when rodney's kid brother cheese came in and...wait, that wasn't me. what really happened was i sat around all day in my pajamas (also the previous night's costume - versatile) on their couch watching tv. kyle made me a silly bacon, egg and cheese bagel. emptied the two almost kicked/skunky kegs into the sink. around 6ish i went home. watched some simpsons, some alias, and went to bed. overall, the weekend went great, i saw tons of people i haven't seen in a while, and enjoyed a general awesome time. thanks to all involved... posted by johnny | 11/03/2003 03:05:00 PM |
